The participants represented key institutions including Multipurpose Training Centre (MTC) Juba, Bor, Malakal, Bentiu, and Rumbek Vocational Training Centres, as well as the Ministry’s headquarters in Juba. The training program was made possible through the generous support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and was facilitated by professional trainers from Kenya.
This important initiative is aimed at strengthening the capacity of vocational training instructors and enhancing the quality of technical and vocational education in South Sudan. By equipping instructors with modern training methodologies and practical knowledge, the Ministry seeks to ensure that young South Sudanese acquire the technical and entrepreneurial skills necessary to become self-reliant and competitive in the labour market.
During the training, facilitators shared modern approaches to skills development, vocational training methodologies, and self-reliance strategies that will enable instructors to better prepare trainees for the evolving demands of the labour market.
While addressing the participants at Yam Hotel, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, Deng Tong Kenjok, encouraged the instructors to fully utilize the knowledge gained and apply it in their respective training centres. He emphasized that the skills acquired should be transferred to young people across the country to enhance productivity, promote entrepreneurship, and contribute to the socio-economic development of South Sudan.
The Director General for Vocational Training and Skills Development, Rev. John Chol, also kind of training offered and highlighted the significance of the program, noting that the 12 trained instructors will serve as key resource persons who will further train other instructors and students within their respective institutions.
The Ministry of Labour remains committed to skills development and vocational training as a strategic pillar for youth empowerment, job creation, and sustainable national development in South Sudan.
